- All students must own an instrument. Acoustic piano is recommended. Electric piano with full size keyboard (88 keys) is acceptable for students no more than 2 years of study.
- Lessons will include repertoire, technique and music theory. Curriculum will be developed individually for every student based on his/her abilities and personal goals.
- Students will need a 3-ring binder to keep printed materials he/she is working on, and a spiral note book for weekly assignments. Additional books and materials might be needed of which teacher will notify each student individually.
- Nails must be trimmed short and kept in such condition all the time.
- For smaller children, parents must provide necessary props (such as piano bench elevation and foot support) to ensure correct posture while practicing.
- Parent(s) must be present during lessons with students under 14 years of age and are encouraged to stay with an older student.
- Every student is required to participate in 2 recitals per year. (Optional for adult students).
PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS:
Regular practice is a key to successful piano lessons and requires the same priority as school homework. Parents are encouraged to help students find a regular time for practice. A student has to complete at least 5-6 practice sessions a week. Duration of each session may vary depending on each student’s special needs and level. Suggested minimum practice session is:
- 30 minutes a day for the average-age beginner (younger students may split it into several 10-20 minutes sessions)
- 40 - 50 minutes a day for intermediate students
- At least 60 minutes a day for more advanced students.
TUITION
- Annual Studio Fee of $60 from each student is due on or before the 1st lesson of the academic year. It includes printing expenses, Studio Library upkeep and biannual hall hire for KPS recitals.
- Tuition is based on 35 classes per academic year and divided equally in 9 payments.
- 30 min lessons once a week - $171.00 a month ($44 per lesson)
- 45 min lessons once a week - $ 214.00 a month ($55 per lesson)
- 60 min lessons once a week - $ 257.00 a month ($66 per lesson)
- Tuition is payable monthly, on or before 1st lesson of the month.
- Families with more than one member enrolled in KPS lessons are eligible for a 10% discount deducted from the total monthly cost.
- There will be a $25 late fee for tuition received after the first lesson of the month, or for any cancelled or returned checks.
- Payment method: cash or checks payable to “Anastasia Kitaev”. Tuition also can be payed through Venmo: @Anastasia-Kitaev or PayPal: anastasiakitaev@yahoo.com.
- Families should expect an annual increase in tuition due to cost of living increases.
- Summer Classes are available from June 2 - August 17, 2025. Due to variable traveling and vacation schedules of families, tuition during summer is paid lesson by lesson.
MISSED LESSON POLICY:
- By paying monthly tuition, Students reserve their weekly class time rather than purchasing a specific number of classes. Attendance is at the discretion of the Student. No refunds or credits will be provided for missed piano lessons.
- Students are eligible for up to two makeup classes each quarter in cases of medical emergencies or serious illness. These can be scheduled at a mutually convenient time for both the Student and the Teacher, including during breaks at the end of the quarter (fall, winter, spring breaks, or the first week of June).
- Occasional online classes are available as a substitute for in-person lessons in the event of minor illness or inclement weather.
- If the Teacher needs to cancel a lesson, it will either be rescheduled or credited toward future lessons.

Kitaev Piano Studio reserves the right to terminate a student’s piano lessons any time, at the teacher’s discretion, if expectations are not met. Every effort will be made to resolve the discrepancies between teacher’s expectations and student’s efforts. Parents are encouraged to call or email if they have any questions or concerns about their child’s study.
